Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between 'with spaces' and 'without spaces'?
'With spaces' counts every character including spaces, tabs, and line breaks. 'Without spaces' removes all whitespace before counting, useful when a character limit only applies to visible characters.
How are lines counted?
A line is counted for every line break in the text, so a single line of text with no breaks counts as 1 line.
Why does my platform's character limit differ slightly from this count?
Some platforms count certain characters (like emoji or URLs) differently, for example Twitter/X shortens links to a fixed length. This tool gives a raw character count.
